WHAT IS PATHOLOGY?

  •  The word "pathology" is derived from two Greek words; 'pathos" meaning "suffering" and 'logos" meaning study; therefore, pathology is the scientific study of structure and function of the body in disease.
  • In other words, it is the study of the essential nature of disease including the signs/symptoms, pathogenesis, complications and morphologic consequences including the structural and functional alterations in cells, tissues and organs.
